wet spot
    #5689564 - 05/30/06 02:29 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

this is probably a really juvenile question, but i was given a jar of almost fully cultivated mycelium by a friend. i noticed yesterday that it most definitely has wet spot on the very bottom corner. this is really upsetting to me, as this individual lives very far away and i won't be able to get another jar. is it stupid of me to attempt to start new jars with the already cultivated mycelium? i know that this jar is dead, but if i started say 10 more jars would i have a chance to see one come of age, or is this just a recipe for disaster? thank you!

Correct. You can't do a grain to grain transfer with a contaminated jar. You can always prepare new jars, then order spores and start over fresh. Spend the time while you wait for the spores to arrive by searching through the forums so you can learn what to do.
