I'm not to sure with cow poo, I use horse dung. but i'm sure it would be the same. The Big difference between cow and horse poo is with the cow poo you need to cut it with straw. You want to pasteurize not sterilize. there are lots of teks here for pasteurization if you need i can give you some links.

I'm useing all natureal pre-composted manure bought at Canadian tire. 2.49 for 20KG's of it.
Since it is pre-composted it cutts out the leeching proccess (yay) but with fresh patties you will need to gather up whatever you need and soak the poo in a bucket (outside of course) for a few days to let all the amonia and other baddies out...
after that you can place it in trays or on a tarp and just stick it out in the sun, it needs to be raked every now and then to dry it out evenly...
After you've got your manure leeched and dryed you need to bring it back up to feild capacity, this is where you can also make the choice of just adding your cutt up straw with your cow poo
I use a laundry bag found at Canadian tire for 4 bucks, can pack enough poo/straw into it to do 4-5 large casings.
After you've decided how you want to go about pasturizaing it, bring a pot of boiling water up to 160F and then place in your bag of straw+cow poo and pasturize it for 1 hour. It is very importent your tempature doesn't go to far over or under 160F under you'll be risking not killing all bacteria, and over you'll kill off the poo/straws immune system to contam's...
After your bag is done pasturizing put it somewhere to dry and then spawn your rye/corn/wbs to it
-------------------- It's okay to hurt my feelings cause you know, they're so numb anyway. but I guess it's what I get for being to fuckin stupid to stay away - Jake - Support the FSR at www.fsrcanada.com and www.fsre.nl

Fresh manure won't work. You need manure that's been field aged for a few months. The sun bakes it and the rain leeches it, rendering it acceptable for fungi. RR
