I've been reading through some agar teks and whatnot, and I was wondering if it would really be useful to use agar or if I should just stick to my grains and poo for good yields ect.

agar is a very useful tool for the experienced grower, great for cloning and isolating specific substrains. also good for seperating from contams when using a contaminated print etc. IMO would be very good for you to start experimenting with agar while still inocing straight to grain

agar is good for strain isolation. if you have sterile techniques, and want to find the quickest colonizing batch, agar is the way to go. agar is also good for isolating any characteristic that you find desirable. for most beginners, agar is not the way to go, as it truly requires you to be on your game. most people will be happy enough to just stick to grains, for better or worse.
p.s. there are also other uses for agar besides these, but these are the uses that answer your question most effectively...i think.
