Are E Novagranatense REALLY legal?

O.k., I've read a couple of posts that say E Novagranatense is legal in the U.S., but the coca plant is a scheduled substance, are these not considered coca plants? If they are legal, anybody know a good supplier?

I have been wondering about growing coca, but figured it was illegal, or at least too hard to do outdoors.

e nova is only scheduled, as i know of, in Colombia....which doesn't mean a thing there anyway, but in the US I believe it is just illegal to import either plant material or seeds, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I've heard.

I've read the scheduling law and unless it's changed recently, what I say is correct. E coca the plant is illegal, the seeds are not. E nova and other ethyroxlylum species are legal both plant and seeds. I had a thread going a week or so back on some I'm growing. I should update the photos. The little seedlings are bigger now and putting out branches. I still have one available for trade or sale.
As far as importing, that's another kettle of fish. They can grab anything they want whether legal or illegal. They have been known to grab betel nut, various spices and plants, it all depends. They will definately grab coca tea or any species of that type of plant. Extracting from the plant even if the plant is legal will get you in trouble in the states. You could say e nova is a loophole in the law. Long as it stays underground, we can exploit that loophole.

Is E. nova anywhere near as potent as E. coca? Would chewing leaves give one a numb, "buzzed" feeling?

Whatever, yes, it is about as potent as e coca. I don't think the cops would know an e coca from an oak tree. About the only plant they can recognise is mj and only because the leaves are so distinctive. Since it isn't listed as illegal, it would be quite a stretch for them to charge you. If you were caught doing an extraction, then they might. Extracting is considered a no no. Same with san pedro, it contains mescaline but unless you extract, you are safe. I have cactus seeds too if anyone needs them.
Interestingly enough, poppy straw is illegal. However, you can buy opium poppy seed anywhere and lots of people grow them. Long as you don't get caught lancing the pods, you are ok.

the plant is illegal and to get seeds of this plant it would ahve to be smuggled in / bought from a different country which is illegal also, so if your getting seeds from plants in the US your a victim of the crime too, so i think the answer to this question is No it is not Legal, so this topic sounds dead to me now, but i dont knwo thats jsut me

Got a link to your proof that the plant itself is illegal?

Well Calab, if your answer is correct, than this is sorta like the marijuana stamp/tax act way back when. They made Mary illegal unless you had a stamp saying you where certified by the government to grow it, but to get the stamp you had to have the Jand in hand - selfincrimination. But than again, nobody ever said there was a way to get these nova's so you could grow them legally.

"Coca leaves (9040) and any salt, compound, derivative or preparation of coca leaves (including cocaine (9041) and ecgonine (9180) and their salts, isomers, derivatives and salts of isomers and derivatives), and any salt, compound, derivative, or preparation thereof which is chemically equivalent or identical with any of these substances, except that the substances shall not include decocainized coca leaves or extraction of coca leaves, whhch extractions do not contain cocaine or ecgonine."
Seems simillar to pot, right?
In theory, if you had a leafless, cocaless plant, it would be fine. But, good luck with that.
Unlike peyote, it isn't listed by species, but it clearly seems to be illegal. Was too lazy to look it up before, but it seems everyone else has been too.

Yes, we know that coca plants are illegal as I said originally. However, e novagranatense is not coca. Look up the definition and it says e coca, not any and all members of the ethyroxylum family. Many of them have no cocaine in them at all. Caleb, sometimes magazine articles leave out important info. E nova happens to be legal.
An interesting thing is that customs will grab coca tea without testing to see if it contains cocaine or not. That's one reason it's so hard to get things into this country.
I still have the one seedling but a couple people have expressed interest so I assume it's gone.

Shit, so if they are legal, then is it okay to request seed sources? If not, then scratch that comment, mods.

Here is an updated pic of my seedling. It's hard to make out in the photo but it has a couple of branches now.
