Need advice on stalled cakes.

Ok so a few weeks back, I inoculated twelve full pint jars with some Ecuador and some Cambodian spores (not in same jars, duh). Thing is, these products were OLD. The syringes had been sitting in my closet for almost half a year, along with the pre-sterilized jars.
So, needless to say, I wasn't expecting much going into this.
Two jars contaminated. Four have done nothing. Six of them have growth.
TWO of these are almost done...but it has been a week now, and these couple spots are just not getting filled in. I THINK it is because these jars may have dried out from pro-longed poor storage.
What should I do with these two cakes? Most stuff I've found says to 'burn' the spots, but I don't know the best way to do this. The one jar only has a section like 3/4" long near the rim of the jar. The other has two spots, near each other, on the very bottom (I have flipped it, but to no use).
Any advice would be helpful. Besides these couple spots, these cakes have been ready for birth for over a week and are starting to get fuzzy in areas.
OH, and as for the other 4....the growth seems to have stopped, or slowed down to a rediculous pace. I'm fearing these 4 will probably not finish colonizing. Two of them are just over half done, the other two maybe like 1/3 done. With these, should I wait it out for awhile, or just try and extract the myc and trip on it?
The best idea I have is just casing the two that are almost done, but they are very dry. Would it be safe to dunk and then case with some uncolonized spots? OR would it be safe to take out the colonized portions of the other four cakes and case that?
I have new supplies on the way, I was just hoping I'd get SOMETHING out of these old materials.

i've just brushed away any uncolonized portions under water in the sink as i prepare to dunk them. get it all off and then dunk, then roll or case or whatever. this has worked for me everytime ive done it. the stalled ones must be dried out, you might try adding water somehow, by injecting, good luck with that, i guess its worth a try though. gl.

Like just dig out the uncolonized verm until I hit myco? Sounds like a pretty good idea, and it wouldn't deform my cakes too too much.

buy a bottle of distilled water. Suck it up in a syringe and inject it in the dried jars. It worked for me with grain jars.
