So after using cakes to fruit and not being so happy with the results i've decided that i'm gonna attempt to use a casing, based on this guide: http://www.shroomery.org/index.php/par/7971
Heres what I am planning to do, tell me if it sounds good --------------------------------------------------------- 1.)crumble 1 pint(2 1/2 pints) of subtrate in a plastic bag,let it sit for a day for mycelium to start growing again 2.)put it into a plasic tray with a 1/2 inch sterilized vermiculite layer at the bottom(microwaved for 5 mins). 3.)Put a layer of 1 inch sterilized vermiculite. Cover it(remember to leave holes for gas exchange) and let it sit for 3 days. 4.) Check on it in 3 days, if mycelium growth is visible in the top layer then start fruiting otherwise wait a few more days 5.)Uncover each casing then put each casing into one of those miniture green houses 6.)Have a tray of wet perlite under the casing tray(perlite not touching casing) 7.)Fan out 3 times a day for airexchange, mist each day until pins start forming, include giving light
So does this sound ok? Hope i'll do everything right feel free to add anything that would help, thanks!

I wouldn't suggest just casing with verm... Just spend the extra 5 bux and go to lowes or HD and buy a brick of coco coir... It makes things lots better...

well first off, just case it after you crumble it, don't let it sit in the bag for 24 hours. and dudefromaz, coir is nutritious, which shouldn't really be in a casing you can case fine using just verm, people get best resutls with peat though. read up on 50/50 and 50/50+ and 2" is too thick. do more research

the first reason i used coir is because i have like 6 bricks of it in my garage which i used for "special" seeds... Well, now that i have a camera, i will show you what coir casings are all about yo.... BUt peat would probably be better for a new grower since there is less chance of ovrlay...
