I doubt any legitimate studies like this have been done, at least in the last 30 years. There would be so much public outcry, even if countries where psychedelics are more accepted. How do you justify an autistic person's desire to take such a substance when they often have trouble making the most simple of decisions for themselves?
I am intrigued by the idea, however. I wonder if it would be too difficult for them to understand, or if it would be like a Godly enlightening experience for them.

I guess you'd really need to study the brain of one on autism first.
I know nothing about the subject, but know there is countless books and medical journals on the neuro structure of autistics.
A key benefit of psychedelics is their ability to unlock certain thoughts and memories- so if autism has to do with an unused portion of one's brain that is fully functioning, then I think psychedelics could be potentially helpful. However, if it has more so to do with a portion of the brain that is never developed or completely nonworking, psychedelics would most likely be a hell ride for them.
Excuse my ignorance on autism, please.

That would be interesting...
For one people with autism have a hard time comprehending emotions let alone showing them. Many don't understand love(and neither do we) or happiness and why people smile when their happy(and neither do we). But normal people can see people and pretty much get a idia for how they are feeling based on their body motions and the facial expression. However a person with autism cant or has a hard time understanding if some one is happy, sad angry ect...
Another this is autistics have the most sophisticated visual memories. They can walk into a room and remember that there were 47 chairs 28 lights and any thing else u could ask them.
Some thing else to note is that they have extremely good hearing and when things get loud it terrifies them. I mean imagine having u hearing by 10 times that of normal and being in a stadium... It would freak me out.
All of these factors could definitely effect an autistic under phycadellics. However i believe if you were to treat a autistic person with a drug it would be MDMA. Because you could help with the emotional part with out scaring the shit out of em. However i haven't done MDMA so i don't know shit... Just heading out ona north bound train...

Autistic people tend to hate things changing, like different flowers in a vase. I think LSD is more upsetting/confusing. You might traumatize such a person because there is no way you can reassure him or her.

Take a look at the doses used in those studies.

No child showed evidence of serious side-effects, toxicity, or irreversible regression from either medication. All showed some response, which however varied in degree and characteristics. There were definite changes in response to the environment, which was most remarkable in these autistic children. They became gay, happy, laughing frequently, especially early in the treatment program. Nearly all of them were more alert, aware, and interested watching other persons. Some showed changes in facial expression in appropriate reactions to situations for the first time; many were able to understand and follow directions more readily. This increase in awareness was noted by all observers, including families, and was one of the most encouraging signs in these very withdrawn, regressed children. Personnel and parents were enthusiastic about the changes in the children, describing them as "more affectionate," "more aware," and interested in them or in siblings for the first time. The twin no longer covered his eyes anti cars with his hands, now seemed less afraid, more interested, alert and active, and came to the person who addressed him. (One anxious mother even complained to us about the medication, giving as her reason that her son, who was previously so quiet and easy to manage, now wanted to contact her, to sit in her lap, and to be noticed.)
