not fully colonised

Hey,
I'm new here, so be gentle.
A few weeks ago I decided to have an attempt at growing my own mushrooms. As I'd never done this before I decided to splash out and buy a grow kit from a shop in town (Mushrooms are illegal in the UK, but buying a ready made grow bag and spores separately isn't). I got home, injected the bag, and put it in the airing cupboard to fully colonize.
I've been keeping an eye on it, but I've noticed that in the past week it seems to have stopped spreading. It's mostly colonized, but there is a large chunk (I'd say about 20% of the bag) that's totally untouched.
The temp is still around the 28C mark, and it's nice and dark. Can anyone suggest an explanation? Should I just move on to the fruiting stage and ignore the uncolonized area?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
P.S. In case anyone's wondering about the screen name, I'm going to uni in a couple of months to study genetics.

Never used grow bags but can't you just break it up and try to mix the colonized part with the uncolonized part then let it heal?

You should mix spawn bags by kneading in your hands like bread dough when they're anywhere between ten and thirty percent colonized to spread the mycelium around. Even though you're way past that, mixing at this time is the best way to get it finished. After shaking/kneading, it should be fully colonized within a few days to a week. RR

I've got the same problem I was hoping it would sort its self out and I was just being impatient maybe it will
I've got 650gms of rye grain ( in a grow bag) colonized about 17 days ago its got lovely white mycelium growing on it.I did mix it after about 10 days. But it has one corner that has no growth just uncolonized rye grain.
Can I damage the mycelium by breaking it up at this stage as it all seems to be hard and compact. Will it recuperate if I mix it up too vigorously?

Thanks, I'll try mixing it up, and I'll be back on with the results.
