So i took a small dose yesterday morning for the purpose of a focused meditation with my guitar, creative composition if you will . Well i got to humming for the vibration which, for extended periods of time, after becoming strong in the chest would reach out and i would feel my entire being vibrating slow and soft. I felt as if i was tuning my body to this vibration.
my quiestion to you gurus is, is this the basis of chantaning and mantras...a type of tuning of the body and mind? Specific vibrations that are in the tones which attune with some universal....metaphysical...state of being?
thanks The Experience IS The Way

Yes i have also heard of certain "vibrations" that we can so to speak, tune ourselves into through meditation and similar methods. These vibrations you speak of i have also seen referred to as densitys. It is said that we operate in the 3rd density or vibration when we are awake, and enter a 4th denstity in our unconscious state (dreams). I have felt similar vibrational changes when meditating completely sober, and stronger ones when tripping:)

absolutely! I sometimes do a general chakra humming where i go through each "chakra" of the body and hum into it for a long period of time. Sometimes I use the Buddhist mantras to hum, but I don't always remember what each one is.
Humming, chanting, throat singing..... is very therapeutic to do, and especially so while high. On an LSA comedown I did it for ages, singing, making noise, resonating with my vibrations..... it was nice.
Hopefully my neighbors didn't hear !
furthermore each chakra and the major brainwave states have their own specific frequency which you can acess through humming. I haven't really done it to the point of trascendent results but...
for example the AUMMMMMM mantra is supposed to produce alpha waves. ah is very sharp and creates an alert ness.... uhhhhh is theta brainwaves and creates a visionary state... and mmmmm..... is the frequency of deep sleep.
when combined as aummmm it produces a balance of the 3 giving you a calm alpha level.
Or is supposed to. Try and see. I get noticeable results, but I have not been able to really use uhhhh or mmmmm to go into the dreaming or deep sleep states.
and respectively ah - third eye uh - throat chakra mmm - heart chakra
-------------------- I am the MacDaddy of Heimlich County, I play it Straight Up Yo! ....I embrace my desire to feel the rhythm, to feel connected enough to step aside and weep like a widow, to feel inspired, to fathom the power, to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain, to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human...... Om Namah Shivaya, I tell you What!

Read in some mysticism if you so choose, by you were merely 'tuning in' to the resonant frequency of your chest cavity.

Rather, if in the morning you establish a certain kind of mind you will automatically be more conscious of your actions during the day. Once set, your mind's internal watch continues to run by itself. This is true because by channelling a great deal of energy in one direction you ensure that all subsequent energy will flow along the same path.
Intriguing. *reads on*

I thought this was very true, since I have experienced this personally
For example, some people become temporarily insane because they are preoccupied with the false energy of their distorted minds. The purifying vibration of a mantra is able to bring the mind back to a calm and smoothly functioning state and the mental illness is thereby cured.
It really bothers me when I see people taking "mood altering drugs" to "fix" some "chemical imbalance" that some Dr said they had. When most mental problems can be solved, from within, by simply changing the way you think.
