Mushrooms from a log.

this may be in the wrong thread, but ithought this was the best place for this.
i found a cool looking mushroom growing on a rotting stick. i picked up the stick to get a better look, but the mushroom fell into the river that i was near. i took the stick home. is it possible to cultivate other of the same mushrooms from the stick? i think it was edible, but i didnt get the chance to get a close look...
any help would be nice.

Are you asking if some mushrooms grow on logs?
Then yes;
psilocybin azurescens, which is a lignicolous ( wood-loving) Psilocybe.
There are many.

well im not asking particularly for actives, i couldnt care less.
im asking if there is a certain way to nurture the log to get the mushrooms to grow back.

I don't believe you could with that specific log-maybe a new candidate?
But I'm not a wood-lover (yet).

Well I'm not sure because the log has been removed from it's environment-so if you can recreate that and I'm not sure-maybe you'd have to have a tissue to create a culture on the log.

But the same could be done with a totally new specimen of wood.

well what im thinking about doing is pouring abunch of water on the log and sticking it in a tupperware and put it in the top of my closet, which is very warm, about 90*F. so do you think thats a good idea? i found the log in a cow feild right next to a river. it has been storming for the past week...

Maybe you could go back to the river and make notes about the environmental conditions, light, temp, humidity, and get info about the weather around the time you found them fruiting (edit- you beat me to saying that), you could then chip up the stick and mix it with pasteurized wood chips? Or maybe go back to the river and look near there for more rotting sticks to see if any others are colonized. Dragon

Lol if you sprayed that raid anywhere near the wood-I'd imagine it wouldn't be ideal anymore.

naw, i poped on the ol' rubba golves and shook all the termites off into a bucket...then it was furnace
anyways, im soaking the wood in water right now. after about 5 minutes, ill move it to the tupperware.
