Fews Qs with PMP and substrate jars

First off I'll start with my setup. I have two PMPs, one is about 36qt and the other is 58qts and I have one 125gallon air pump pushing two bubble wands in each pod with hydroton. My main question is, can you have too many holes (or big of holes) for gas exchange if it doesn’t hurt your humidity? I have the right size holes but my humidity is always 94%+ depending on the outside humidity so I don’t think it’d hurt to make the holes bigger for more exchange.
I know you want to keep things as clean as possible but how important is it to sterilize the pmp? My understanding is by the time the cakes are in there they are pretty resistant to contams.
Last thing, can you mix the substrate in the jars, screw the lid on tight, and seal the holes with tape for a week before you PC them and inject the spores or is that something that should be done right away? Since it’s sealed well I’m not sure if the water will evaporate.
