PCing polyfilled tubing

On my double tubed LC jar is it necessary to protect my polyfill from the moisture created inside my pressure cooker during cooking? Anyways, wouldn't PCing cause the contents of my LC(karo&water) to steam out through my tubes?

During the PC cycle, water is constantly raining down from the lid due to condensation. It's colder on the outside of the PC than inside, so water forms on the bottom side of the lid and drips down on your jars or lc during the entire time you're cooking. That's the reason we cover with foil.
The reason lc and agar boil over or otherwise puke out is because guys pop off the weight or relief valve to let the pressure out. You need to simply shut off the stove when time is up and and walk away, allowing the PC to cool slowly on its own without doing anything to hurry up the process and nothing will boil over. Good luck. RR

Thanks Roger. Always the helping hand. But, one more question.
"If you'll drill two or three small, 1/16" holes in the metal lid, the grains will never touch the filter when you shake. A fully inflated bicycle tire works great for banging jars against to break them up. Just make sure you have the tire pumped up nice and hard." RR
-I'm assuming that we're talking about a tyvek filter here? Placed over top and under metal ring? Do you use one of those 1/16" for inoculation? I've got my LC lid construction down, but i'm trying to perfect my spawn lids. Thanks again for the help!

This is how I do lids for grains and LC.
Though for LC I use a stirrer so there is no shaking.
For grain you could place on piece of tape upside down and then another one over that, so nothing can stick to the lid.

I use synthetic filter disks. You don't want to puncture them, so I simply lift one edge of the lid barely up and squirt the syringe right down the side against the jar. Always work in a glovebox or in front of flowhood and wear gloves that have been washed with alcohol after putting them on. Be sure to flame your needle, etc.
Yes, the metal lid goes on the bottom, and I use them upside down so the metal is against the glass rather than the rubber. This makes it easy to get off. Next is the filter disk, then the metal ring. I prefer synthetic filter disks over any other filter material. I have some that are five years old now and used hundreds of times. I've never yet had to throw one away. RR

I dont really ever flame needles. Actually never since I lit myself on fire inside a glovebox. BE CAREFUL PEOPLE. I just put my syringe in the PC in an autoclave bag either already on the needle or just inside. then open package and stick on. No probs. I do most of my stuff open air in my little greenhouse with the Hepa blasting. I do not really have contam issues just Me still trying to figure this hobby out. Never stop learning thats for sure
