Foil may not provide as much airflow as filters or a paper towel. ASSUMING you use tyvec (which you should if you shouldnt) then the filters\paper towel only act as a dust cover, and since they pass air, i would find either more optimal then foil. w00t?

No i'm not using tyvek, just the cap with one hole in the center and polyfill pulled through then the ring to seal it.
i just PCed 2 jars and they came out fine, no water got in and its all good
i used a shitload of foil and rubberbands too

You can get tyvec envelopes at office depot... for like $3. Use those, cut them the size of the jar, put it over the top lid, then put the band on. Then put C. filters over the top with a rubberband. Your set!

No. You still need to use foil over the lids when you PC. Personally, I see no use for coffee filters in mycology except perhaps dumped in with the coffee grinds as substrate for oysters. RR
