Fogger Woes - Need experienced help
    #5681431 - 05/27/06 07:57 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

Alright here is my old setup.

the humidifier was only 10 inches high or so.  So I had to refill it all the time
Well i cut a hole in the kit and made more room for a taller one as seen here.

giving me an extra 4 inches of water.
Well for one the fogger would not work.  It would not get the fogger to come up to the top.  It would put a constant ripple on the top of the water.  When brought to less of a depth it produced fog.  AGAR is getting his to work in the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket?
I also tried it with another fogger that has fancy lights and what not for mist pond.  Same effect.
Now also it does not seem to be producing fog as readily?  Its only been used for 2 grows is it already wearing out?  And why wont it work at a deeper depth.

I also took the deeper humidifier and lowered the water level to wear it would make fog and it would not fill up the chamber it just stayed at the bottom?

Do I need to run leads down with airstones or what?  Or get a different kind of fogger?  its just the run of the mill i guess

You have to get a buoy for the ultrasonic fogger to float in. It will keep it at the right depth to work correctly.

Hey when you get a chance throw me that link for the fogger, I lost the one agar suggested. So I dont know what the deal is, since I have not yet used them. My experience kinda stops with I dont have too play with. But you know who is also good at this is mogur, good man maybe he will drop in, if not try to PM him.

The thing I saw was that is a looks like a small pump, maybe two or the one that I have been using, which I think would rock that FC.

Well it looks like a good start, just have to dial it in.

Pics please or some ebay links. I want to see what this thing looks like. I need one. I remember in a post by agar that someone else mentioned that you needed a buoy and he replied that he did not use one and it worked fine. I wish he would get into his new digs and get back to being a Mentor.

the amount of mist may reduce due to some mineral build up on the surface of the mist ceramic piece.

cleaning ceramic piece with soft cloth and see if it fixes shit.

Yes they are necessary when used in water depths deeper than a few inches and they are pictured in the link I posted.

another issue I have with my kit. The water in the eco is getting HOT. like easily in the high 80's. Is this the foggers doing or the light rope which will be leaving soon?

I'd say mostly the fogger but the combination will raise the heat. Increase FAE's as much as possible without dropping RH levels to an unacceptable range. I tell ya the Homer2's rock by design!

how does it keep the fogger at the right level. I ordered a bouy but it may be to big for my 4 inch pvc and I may need to fab what you have there.

The fogger is heating the water to warm to the touch. I have not put a thermometer in it only running 15 minutes every hour or so. I have a big 5500 air pump mabey ill stick that on there instead of the 3300

Ill put my fogger in a cup for an hr and see if increases or decreases the temps.

that looks like cpvc of sorts. What is that little tray made out of? I take it there are a few holes drilled in the shelf so water flows in?

I will check this out, but on another note agar has a photo of a mist maker putting out a ton of fog under 6 inches of water. I can use a buoy but Ill have to mod my cabinet more and build a little longer system to account for the buoy. It would be way easier if I could get a fogger that would work under 6 inches of water. any idea where I can get one?

Nobody's works at deeper depths they (foggers) are made to be place just under the surface thats why they make bouy's! FYI

Nice thing here is less maintance is required when you can fill your reservoir deeper making for less fillings. 6 inches of water drops pretty fast when fogging IME.

also as far as the fogger heating the water up. IT IS. rapidly actually. in reference to the other post on it possibly being defective I also have a brand new fogger for a mist pond that makes colors and stuff and stuck it in there and it made the water hotter as well. So whats up with some people getting there fogger to cool the water

this was a responce from the fogger company.

It is normal that the fogger increase water temperature when it is in use, depending on the size of the water container, the bigger size container, the less heat accumulated. you may use a small pump to pump water between two containers to cool off the water by circulating water.
Thanks,
