I caught one fish in my life, at Fungus Lake in BWCA, then ate some mushrooms.

All we have is channel cats around here, and maybe a few little bullheads.

Largest I ever caught was a 39 inch channel cat using slightly rotten chicken liver (i left it out in the sun the day before) back in 2001. One helluva fight he put up. He didn't emerge from the water without kicking and screaming. Cat fishing is kinda taboo among alot of anglers here because it's considered a trash fish like Carp or over-grown suckers, but I don't measure a beautiful landing by the beauty of the fish, rather the beauty of the fight. The harder the fight the fish puts up, the more cosmic respect I give it.

I don't eat catfish, but I'll eat anything that doesn't put up a fight. Anything that fights for its life will be rewarded with my mercy.

Im a casual fisherman. Used to fish alot before i turned 18 a few years ago. now i need to buy a license and cant seem to get out on the water enough to justify buying one. i fish for lil things at my parents cottage, lil cats and rock bass etc. Id like to get into fly fishing once i have the time and money though. Seems such a calming art.

Fly fishing is interesting, it's more strategic than most types of angling. I've gone ice fishing once, but I was paranoid that the ice would break the whole time so I didn't really enjoy it.

I love cat fishing, chicken livers are good but I got one for you. Find a river clam open it up and let it sit in the sun for a day or two and you will have a bait that they just can not get enough of and they will have one hell of a time getting it off of that hook. I grew up on the Miss and there is some nice cats in there. Biggest I ever caught was a 28.3 lb flat head. Have any of you guys ever used diddy poles or trot lines to fish
