wealth or fame?

personally I'd rather be rich than famous.
I have kind of a reputation around town. so like wherever I go people talk about me. Its really annoying.
I'd much rather just have zillions of dollars and have nobody know who I am. Just kind of pull the strings from behind the scenes.
Meh, I guess I'll have to wait for death so I can have true anonymnity.

All the fame in the world doesn't necessarily mean you'll be rich and happy. I'd take money before fame any day.

Its so much more gratifying to make your own money.
like I recently bought a nice car I've wanted for awhile.
I could have complained to my daddy or someone and they would have bought me the car.
But it was so much more satisfying to earn and save on my own, and now whenever I look at that car I know that it is truly mine, I didn't mooch it or whine for it. I fucking earned it. That feels great, makes me proud of myself knowing that no one can take it away because I earned it.
Celebrities are overpaid. They don't really earn what is theirs. Thus, they are public property. I would fucking hate that. Not being able to go to the store to buy a pack of smokes without a million people asking for autographs and taking pictures. Don't get me wrong, I respect celebrities and all, but I don't think that fame is all its cracked up to be. Most celebrities don't realize this until its too late.
I used to want fame as a child. Then I grew up.
Now I just want to be rich and anonymous, and live a simple peaceful life, and help others anonymously.

Wealth. Because money can and does buy happiness to a certain extent. Things like food.. shelter.. clothes.. dental and medical care.. you know.. basic survival.. the lack of which can make one miserable. And wealth can also buy fame.. but who would want that.
I wasn't gifted with a wealthy family. I learned how to make bad financial decisions from my parents. I had to earn my own money and pay for everything myself since I was 16 or so. Then I got myself into shittons of debt, which is really quite frustrating especially when you are just making enough to get by as it is. Then it becomes a perpetual cycle of 'working extra hard to get ahead just so you can catch up to being behind'. I just want to repay my debts and be done with it. Then I can start doing things like getting my teeth fixed from the wisdom teeth that have been destroying the rest of my teeth for the past 4 years, and so on.
I was 'severely clinically depressed' for a few years. The doctors said it was because of my upbringing. But I think it had more to do with the fact that I wasn't eating much food because I couldn't afford it. Then I feel guilty when people want to help. But I'll tell you one thing.. shroomerites have helped me FAR more than my parents ever have or would.
Basically I just want enough "wealth" to live like most normal people.

funny thing is, I grew up wealthy, and that is often held against me when people call me things like 'trust fund baby'.
But the truth is, I have no trust fund, and my dad never really spoiled me either. I bought my first car with money I made sacking groceries. I remember when I asked my dad for a guitar, he gave me this 35 year old piece of shit with one pickup. Thats what I had to learn how to play on. Eventually I had to rebuild the damn thing just to make it worth a shit.
And its not like I've never seen the ghetto either. My mom and dad were divorced, and my mom wasn't exactly wealthy. We lived in a pretty bad part of town for awhile while she got on her feet after the divorce. Of course, $900 a month in child support helped, but thats really not much when you think about it.
Truth is, I grew up both rich and poor, and I treasure both sides of my upbringing, because they both taught me very important lessons.

Most people don't have that security blanket, and in turn, no choice.

I think my parents were probably slightly wealthy when I was much younger. Then they got divorced.... my mom was raising 3 of us on her own while going to medical school and working full time.. food stamps and the whole 9 yards. I don't know how she did it.. I admired the woman. Being poor certainly teaches very valuable lessons, just staying that way sucks. Well... my moms persistance paid off, after me and my sister moved out, she graduated and landed a fat hospital job, married some rich military rocket scientist guy, and now they are well off. But don't really give two shits about me. I guess that's tough love for you.
Well.. I have persistance too. I'm not about to give up. I will prevail. I will get on an even playing field.

I'm gonna tell you this right now, dear friend. If you don't succeed in this world (which I think is highly unlikely), its the world's fault, not yours. They would be foolish to reject your gifts.
Just remember that the universe will always have your back even if the world doesn't

I guess you always gotta have a day job to fund your hobbies, at least until your hobbies take off. I'm at my dayjob right now! Thank god they have computers here!

true happiness comes from within
but many great comforts come from without.
So yeah, money ain't everything, but it definitely helps one lead a more comfortable life.
money can also be used as a means to help others and change the world for the better. I don't need much money for myself, but if I had more than what I needed, I would give most of it away to worthy causes. I'd like to get my mom out of debt, and I'd like to buy my dad a boat, so he could sail away and no one would ever find him
I'd also like to give money to people like NASA, the ACLU, the NAACP, NORML, and so on...

Wealth.
First 5 years - pretty well off.
After that divorce and then we were poor as shit til I was 14 living with my mom and 3 siblings.
My dad is pretty well off now but I'm independant and have been so for 5 years now so it doesn't really matter. Sucks going home though cause everybody knows me... even people I don't know. I can't go to any store without people wanting me to tell my dad something. Closest I'd know of any fame but I hate it.
So... anonymous and humble wealth. I would rather my friends not know I had any money either. Money does more to the people around it than the one holding it. Been on both sides of the coin (rich & poor) and everyone's snobby about money.

I don't really desire wealth. I'm a pretty simple person and I'm happy with what I have. It would be nice to not have to work to pay the bills, but other then that I got most of what I want out of life.
And I absolutely do not want fame! If I was offered unlimited amounts of money to do whatever I want for the rest of my life but it came at the expense of my anonymity I'd have to turn it down. I never want to be recognized in public by a stranger. I value my privacy too much.
