Fruiting temp at 80 dg +

Hey, I am incubating at as high a temp as possible (84 most of the time) bcuz when I fruit it is gonna be at 78dg which I assume will rise at least 3 degrees in the monotub. So is this slight drop in temp gonna screw up pinning and is this temp too high for the fruiting cycle. Actually, I can drop the temp to about 75 for a day or two, but I can't keep it at that due to the high electric bill that will result and whiney roomates. Wuduyathink?

I think that 78 is just a touch too high for fruiting but acceptable for sure.
75 is about perfect for me.
dropping the temp from incubation to fruiting is a good thing for pinning. nothing to be worried about.

I meant is it gonna be a good enough drop to initiate pinning. Maybe the Z's will grow like crazy at a higher temp, who knows.

Oh, okay I see.
um, 85ish to 78ish.
I would try to get it down a bit during the pinning stage. However 78 is still alright. hyphae suggests 74-77 as optimal, so 78 is not far away at all.

I'm just worried about how much that monotub is gonna heat up once it gets going.

My Mexicube PF jars are in a tupperwear bin and the temp fluctuates between 75 & 90. I've got 80-90% colonization in just under one week. I attribute this to using a lot of LC and not packing down. Works wonders. High temps have not been an issue with this method.
Also, My Mexicubes on PF cakes are fruiting just fine in fluctuating temps between 75 (night) - 85 (day). Tho, I usually try to keep them as close to 76 as possible, it doesn't always happen. When you dont have a/c and you are getting hit by a heatwave it can sometimes be difficult to keep the FC under 80. But, my converted igloo works pretty damn good with a half gallon bottle of ice. I usually only need to change it once or twice a day depending on how hot it is in the house.

By the time your mycelium gets to the fruiting stage, the internal heat produced becomes negligible. Secondly, a temperature drop is not necessary. Many growers in areas without air conditioning including my own, have found that cubes will fruit just fine in 90+ degree temperatures. In fact, you can fruit in temperatures that would turn a colonizing substrate into a bacterial blob. I strongly disagree that a temperature drop is required for fruiting. 75f may help to get those massive pinsets that cover every square inch of the casing surface, but at 90f you'll get plenty of fruits and the ones you do get will grow much larger. I doubt total yield is affected at all, so don't sweat it, you'll be fine. RR

RR, as a newcomer who has been poring over these pages and teks I have seen you time and again bring quality info, reassurance, and kindness to this community. Your advice has already helped me along my first attempts and I'm excited to share with the family once I'm rolling along. Thanks for being awesome.

Over summer my room was very hot, up to the mid 90s sometimes. It did effect some types but others like toc seemed to love it. The main issue I noticed was when it stayed hot even at night. I had a period where I clocked inside the tubs at 105 during the day but it was still cooling into the 70s at night and was fine.
Once it got really warm and never went below 85 at night is when I started seeing problems.
