Hey,
what's this yellow coloration where the mycelium should be? Anybody seen it before?

I can't upload the picture cuz' it's too big but now there is fuzzy splotchy white growth around the yellow spots. All 12 jars have it. I'm gonna wait and see how this develops.

O.K., here it is on one of the 12 jars. This is nine days after inoculation. I agree with you MAIA. I just want to see what happens to this contamination. Thanks.

Have had that contamination many times before. By the way, dump that cake carefully.. if ya slam it on a table it releases a dust cloud (of spores).

I went down to the seldom-used basement of our apartment building (and wore clothes which I afterwards threw away), dumped the substrate from all 12 jars into a plastic bag and tossed. That was yesterday, 12 days after inoculation. There was little difference in the way the jars looked from the second picture I posted above. Also, there was no visible dust-cloud when I slammed the jars, and no strong smell. So, get this: 4 days ago I inoculated 10 more jars with another syringe of Maz I still had from the same order. I took extra care (flame-sterilized needle repeatedly). Unfortunately, it looks like the same yellow tint may be infecting these jars as well. It's a little early to tell. I hope not. I really wanted to grow Mazatepecs. I have PF cakes that are doing marvelous and Hawaiian jars that are coming along fine. All these syringes were delivered to me in November. Maybe that's the problem. Oh well, I still have two syringes of Hawaiian left. They will be used tonight and tommorrow (as fast as I can make 17 more jars of substrate). I will attempt to contact my vendor for a possible refund as well. Spliff Time! Then back to the mill-stone.
PEACE OUT!
