2 weeks is quite a while, maybe it drained some of the much-needed nutrients for pinning.
Otherwise, is there an excess of moisture building up? Or any other 'suspicious activity' ?

You really don't have to-I've seen many experiments on this site and the like, where people (seasoned cultivators) have said "nay" and "yay" for dunking.
Typically it's preference I'd imagine.

Wait a little longer, don't worry after only 5 days. Although two weeks is awhile to wait, I believe they will fruit. You should have considered a casing or some other method, though.

you SHOULD at least dunk the cakes, colonization takes alot of the cakes moisture that it needs to fruit, it may still fruit without dunking but not like it would if it was dunked

Would birthing cakes like you do with mycofarm bags be benificial? That is: -Taking the jar lid of a fully colonised cake and tipping out the verm -Saturate the verm and put back on top of the cake in the jar -Wrap tinfoil round the jar and place in the fruiting chamber
anyone tryed it or think it would be a good idea?

i dont know about myco bags, but with jars its not the best way to go, while it is possible to fruit from a jar your yield will be smaller. the more surface area=more shrooms. also for your verm layer i would sterilize or pasteurize as this dry verm layer has been acting as your "shield" from contams the whole time, why hydrate it and give those contams free run of your substrate?

It will work. The new book out even recommends it.
BPJohnny is correct though, the yield will be less.
Don't reuse the vermiculite, just use new stuff.
I suggest you just dunk the cake, birth it, roll it in verm, double end case it, and fruit.
You should do great doing that.

you should roll it in verm if its not to late, helps pins to form, more pins more mushrooms and the happyier you will be when they do start to grow.
