space heater fan, dry incubator out??
    #567194 - 03/01/02 08:58 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

A space heaters w. a fan is blowing warm air towards a 36 gallon Sterlite container w. a blanket over it, for the purposes of heating it up. Is this type of heat going to dry out the incubator?? Thanks!!!!!

space heaters are close to the #1 cause of fires in the winter time. get a heating pad from walmart for $15. As for it drying it out, as long as the incubator is dealed, water won't leave it. Just make sure it maintains the right temp

Thats a good idea. Just make sure the heater isint so close that it will catch the blanket on fire!

So I don't have to worry about jars drying out because of the dry air?? There isn't any water in incubator. Just plain old Sterlite big container w. jars in it. Just don't want them to dry out. Thanks.

I have always used a space heater for all my temp control. Works fins for jars. I just got a new one at wal-mart that looked safe and had a built in thermostat on it. That way it would turn itself off and on when the temp went over 86 degrees.
If your jars do dry a bit just dunk them when birthing, or case them.

Honestly, I feal better about leaving a space heater with a thermostat on than leaving a heating pad underneath my rubbermaid all day.

Mine is one of those that is just a hot coil with a fan on it. I sit it in an aluminum Tray incase something happened though.
