More Cubs Misery...or, The Last 10 Years, Redux
    #5671812 - 05/25/06 07:50 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

So its no big secret that the Cubs are bad. Fine, We're TERRIBLE. Probably the worst team in the majors. But thats fine, I'm used to it, theres always next year. I've almost convinced myself we arent a cursed team, that maybe theres a light at the end of the tunnel.

Then I turn on the Yankee's game last night and see Kyle Farnsworth striking out Big Papi and looking like freaking Brad Lidge. When the fuck did this guy become a real pitcher? I watched him in Chicago for 3 years and you could see his eyes get wild and tense anytime someone even mentioned a pressure situation. We always said he had great potential, if nothing else because he can throw 180 mph, but he never had the mind to be a real pitcher. It figures that we trade him away and all of a sudden he has his shit together. I mean, come on, how much can 1 team take?

As if thats not enough, I see Corey Patterson, another Cubs loser who we traded away after watching him struggle for years and years and years, is hitting over .300, slugging .500, and has 15 stolen bases for the Orioles. He struck out twice a game last year!!!!

Anyway. I'm at my wits end with this team. Is it football season yet?

Farnsworth had a chance to be Atlanta's closer this year too. Says a lot that he chose to be a set-up man for Mariano instead.

That Ortiz strikeout last night made my fucking day.

There was a lot of talk that a Yankee pitcher was gonna plunk Manny yesterday, after the showboating he did the day before.

He does pwn us this year though.

The Cubs are awesome now. Ted Lilly and Ryan Dempster will lead you to victory! Nolasco is great, Farnsworth is still mediocre but he got a totally ridiculous contract out of Kansas City.

The world as we know it is about to end, the Cubs winning the series is the opening of the 7th seal.

Of course not since they're not down in an opening round playoff series that they're favored to win yet.

Exactly, but who knows?  Boston finally got it going in the postseason and maybe the Cubs will get used to not choking and playing well when the pressure is on.
