http://www.grinningplanet.com/2005/03-22/biopharming-genetic-engineering-article.htm
Quote:
Genetically engineered crops in general have been found to contaminate non-GE food crops. In the StarLink fiasco , genetically engineered corn that was not approved for human consumption ended up in dozens of products on supermarket shelves that had to be recalled. Even more relevant here is that fact that potentially disastrous slip-ups in biopharm field tests picture of corn have already occurred. USDA has twice cited ProdiGene twice for allowing biopharm crops to contaminate food crops. In one case, USDA quarantined and destroyed 500,000 bushels of Nebraska soybeans meant for human consumption because the crop had been contaminated with corn engineered to produce a pig vaccine. Similarly, potential contamination led to the destruction of 155 acres of conventional corn in Iowa.

Wow thats amazingly bleak. Do you think its theoretically possible that say a GE strain of corn could literally become a parasite and grow every where like Kudzu.

well i do know that the current trend is for large companies to create a GM crop, like corn thats resistant to herbacide, then own a patent on that strain.
then, the strain will spread as nature would have it, and the company surveys a farmers land without a reciept, claim infringement and take over the land.
I dont see why corn with vaccine in it being any different.. infecting other peoples crops and etc.
