so far Ive read the MMGG and the PF Tek and have understood most. I am stuck on how to construct my terarium, nothing to big but i would like it to fit at least 6-8 cakes and keep it relatively simple. ohhh and any suggestions on spores?... since this is my first time low maintainence is important as is potency. I'm leaning towards the puerto rican strain. Is it possible to grow more than one strain in the same terrarium? sorry for all the questions, your support is appreciated ~"The angels are lost in perpetual contemplation of an infinite glory" `

Buy a sterlite rubbermaid container, or a plastic storage container at walmart, kmart or staples. They are what most people use. If its colored, you need to cut a hole and patch it with plexiglass or saran wrap so light can get in there. They are cheap, and are perfect. As for a strain, DO NOT get the Puertos. They are realtivly hard to grow for first time growers. Get the B+...very big fruits, and very easy to grow.

I just use a 65 quart container. I can fit 4 big casings in it, as well as a big jug for heat and a cup of water for my fish tank pump. The layer should be wet perlite. Instead of adding it dry, and then adding a layer of water to it, put it in a strainer or clean pillow case, and water it down and let drain for a few minutes, and then put it in the chamber. Double chamber!? I dont know what that is. Maybe you were looking at the incubator setup that Anno uses. You got your incubator setup already?

BTW--- Your avatar is screwed up if you havent noticed already! You have the following in your avatar url: http://shroomery.org/wwwthreads/files/60932-]http://www.shroomery.org/forums/[image]http://shroomery.org/wwwthreads/files/60932- Take out everything on the first line, and add the rest to the 60932- should be the original file which you uploaded, with the file extension. So, just add this to the field where you specify your avatar: http://shroomery.org/wwwthreads/files/60932-yourfilename.jpg(or .gif)

the double chamber thing i got from the Pf TEk, it says to use a 10 gallon aqarium and angle a peice of plexi in it to disrupt the mist...incubator? is that the same as the rubbermaid thing?...ohh and as far as casings .. i was under the impression i could just set the birthdday "cake" in the aqarium or whatever and monitor heat and humidity for 2-3 weeks and presto..am i even close..wow I thought i had this almost figured out..HA!

An incubator is a box or cooler to keep the jars at 84 deg. until they are fully colonized. You don't have to have it but it speeds up colonization. After the jars are fully colonized you move them to the terrarium(rubbermaid, cooler, aquarium) at lower temps. If you use perlite, you won't need the drip shield. The way to heat you incubator is an aquarium heater in a jar or picher full of water with foil over the top. Don't worry about casings quite yet. There will be time for that a little further along. Hope that helps. Good luck!

Ideal temp drop is about 10 deg. Hopefully your normal room temp is somewhere around that(74) so you won't need to heat the terr. The drip shield is that angled peice of plexiglass that you mentioned. IF you're misting you probably need it but it cuts into the available space. If you use a humidifier, you probably need it for cakes but not as much when trying to get casings to pin. There are a lot of different opinions, and a lot of different proven ways to go about this. You just need to search until you find the one that suit's your situation the best. If a jar is never birthed, it can still produce fruits inside the jar. Just an example. Not the best way. But it works. Keep searching. The answers are here. The very best thing anyone could do before they start, is discover the shroomery so you're on the right track. Good luck!

I dont know if i discovered shroomery or it discovered me.. ;p ...but im gettin there.. so after i inocculate my jars and birthday comes i actually drop temp. to gain fruit?....im about a week or so away from starting just want all my ducks in a row or at least have an idea where there at...thanx all for your support, so if i was to use a rubbermaid bin, clear top of corse, layer the bottom with perilite and use the drip sheild while maintaining 70-80 degrees and relative humidity i should be all good right? I know im getting ahead of myself... i just want to know the process before my spores come in and its go time.... just a little patience right.....yeah...
