Not ready. If the Czechs are as good as you think the US is in a very tough group. Italy Czech US Ghana Going to be very tough to get out of that one for everybody involved. I believe we open with the Czechs. Do or die right out of the box.

Yeah, i think there are two evil groups this year, the US is in one of them for sure. England have an ok one, but last time round we had the group of death: England, Argentina, Sweden, Nigeria (probably one of the better African nations). Argentina went home early that time so, forgive the cliche, but it goes to show anything can happen.
France take the piss this year, the easiest group ive ever seen: France, Switzerland, South Korea, Togo. Bit ridiculous but it tends to happen.
I hope the USA do well and qualify, preferably with the Czechs. The Italians have thrown their toys at the pram at two consecutive tournaments (WC 2002, Euro 2004) and quite frankly i want to see them do it again as it's funny.
What would not be funny would be if this happened to England. So i'm remaining cautiously optimistic as superstition dictates

Not last time S.Korea (Host team and group winner) US (advanced) Portugal Poland
Portugal was very much favored to advance (5th seed in tournament) and Poland was no patsy. S.Korea finished the tournament fourth.
Not such an easy group in 1998 either Germany Iran US Yugoslavia
Although they totally shit the bed in that one anyway 0-3, 1 goal scored.

Why are soccer scores so low?
They're always like 1-0 or 2-1

because its highly competitive at every second, and one breakdown can lead to your loss

Because one goal doesn't count for 2,3, or 5 points!
Seriously though, i guess like OHS said.
Those kind of results you will find against evenly matched teams, like the better third of any league playing against one another, or in the WC when it is not a 'big' nation playing a minnow (Brazil vs Togo is likely to end very embarrasingly for Togo, for example).
You do get anything up to 7-0 in the modern game (Liverpool vs Birmingham this season, one toppish of league vs one bottomish of league, one goal from behind the halfway line (goalie being silly but still ace) etc), but if you've just witnessed a good game of football with two well matched teams you'll see 2-1 etc, if you've witnessed a fantastic game of football between two well matched teams you'll see 3-2's and 4-3's. Admittedly these are less common, but when you see one its terrific. (Newcastle vs Liverpool had two 4-3 games in one season a while ago, both were awesome, Holland vs Czechs = 3-4 at Euro 2004, also incredible)
Sorry to go on, but its basically that. Well matched games can end in stalemate, a mistake deciding it. Sometimes though, genius will out and you are in for an awesome spectacle. And of course, no better place for soccer genius than the World Cup. Worth a try if you want to see the game at its best and most atmospheric.
End Propaganda.
P.S. I personally hope England play Italy and send them home 3-0 crying to their mothers Preferably with absolutely no excuse to start shouting 'conspiracy' again like they have at the past two major tournaments... The big poofs
