making your own foam cooler terrarium

planning to start my first grow in a few weeks. have a lot of people in and out of the house and all over alot so a stealth grow is a must for me. i have a cabnet type space which can be locked and is roughly 1' X 1.5 X 1. I havent been able to find any good fruiting containers which will fit, without being way to small.
would it be alight to make my own styrofoam 'cooler' out of scraps i have? anything needed besides watertight and a window in the top? are any materials harmful for the plants?

Why not just buy a clear rubbermaid from Walmart?
Add some perlite in the bottom and you have a great chamber and can be hidden in a closet.

ive looked around and everything i can find is either a tad too big or a dinky little thing, just my luck i guess
really the main thing im worried about is if theres any things to watch out for as harmful to mushies. i seem to rember something about petrolium based products causing mutations or am i just crazy?

anyway, i found this on a different forum:
"You can get huge sheets of styrofoam in different thicknesses at building supply stores.
Just get a sheet and cut it up to make a box. There are special nails with plastic washers made to tack this stuff together. Get some of those. Then caulk, glue, or tape the seams. You can make one way bigger and way cheaper with this method.
I once made an entire flow hood out of that pink styfofoam."
had some of the pink stuff left over and cut it out, just need some sealant or something for the seams. will post pics tommorow.

just a quick try, took about 30 min start to finish. styrofoam sides with caulk sealing and nails holding it together. plexiglass window. small floro light bulb mounted inside drawer frame above window. holds about 6 jars comfortably which should be plenty for my personal use. seems to work fine, still some fumey smells from the sealant, hopefully will air out in a few days. will these materials be harmful to the fungus?

heres a shot of everything closed up and the drawer locked, super stealthy

that is awesome, great job. next time use the thinner stuff, that insulation comes in quater inch thickness. that would save a lot of room. maybe enough for two more jars. anyway nice job, might try it. ps what temps are you achieving...that is just for incubating i assume?

- actually it is made out of the like 1/4 inch foam. - the light is a tiny flouro light ment for kitchen cabnets, puts off no heat at all really.
the inner dimensions are 1 X 1.5 X 1.5 feet. it is air tight. i was planning to just do cakes at first, but it seems like if i do a caseing in a like 1' X 1.5' pan it should be more space efficient right? plus everyone on here pretty much says cakes arent worth it.
"that is just for incubating i assume? " - would there be any problem using this as a fruiting chamber?
anything else i am missing?

will just putting a pan like this that fills up the whole space work ok? casing mix can be 50/50 vermiculite and peat moss right? cant really do poo cuz of smell haha. do you need humidification when casing? just the perlite layer with the pan on stilts above it?
