mex-a metabolic waste - excreted liquid experiment

hey !
im currently experimenting with several mex a isolates which i started out as a mutlispore inoculation on pda.
about half a year later i took the plate from the fridge and for my surprise it had formed various sclerotia already so i started to tranfer them to individual dishes in order to isolate.
the isolates are now 24 days old and are already producing new sclerotia.
masterplate:

ok so i started various isolates, and two of them particularely caught my interest.
they somehow formed blobs of some waterish looking liquid on top of the sclerotia forming on the agar which looks absolutely stunning, and i wonder what it could be ?

has anybody got a clue what that excreted liquid may be ?
update as i made transfers of the various isolates yesterday, also examined the blobs on the culture in front of the hood.
it seemed as if they had a sort of coating, and i think those were going to develop into sclerotia hmm ..
some pics for the porn lovers

im baffled by teh sclerotia lol, guess this one is a keeper
ah jeah i punctured one of the blobs and wiped the liquid onto a agar plate. i wonder if i was right about the liquid being some sort of pre-stage sclerotia, if that is the case, it should form a stone, well see.
notice the ring of blobs on the outer edge of the plate, looks so cute.

I'd guess either myc piss or condensed water. Interesting post.

those dishes are condensation free (finally got my pouring down heh) so that can't be it.
myc piss, hmm, well as i already guessed it could be some metabolic byproduct thats excreted during sclerotia growth but then the question is, why dont all dishes show it but just those two ?

Perhaps there's a bit of bacteria in those two dishes and the metabolytes are attempting to fight it off. RR

It could also be another fungus growing on your agar with myc. waste on it. Yellow beads of liquid are usually what I see on fungal contaminates in my media.

ill do something suggested by anno, transfer some of the liquid to a clean plate and see if it grows.
if it does, its prolly some bacteria / contam ?

Has the appearance changed in the last few days? Bacteria would have covered the plate by now. RR

If the plate is being kept in the fridge, the bacteria won't necessarily replicate(and take over the plate). Plated cultures are stored in the fridge to slow growth to non existent so we can use the colonies for a few months.

were not even sure if it is bacteria - as it doesnt spread.
the riddle continues, today ill transfer some blob liquid to a sterile plate, lets see if something grows.

My point is, that if the dish in stored at ~5 C (refrigerator) it won't spread. To determine if it is bacteria, plate out the thing you are questioning, and leave it at 28-37 C. If a cloudy mass appears on the plate, you know it is bacteria.

Actually, bacteria will grow very well in the refrigerator, just a bit slower. That's why they stink so bad if we leave the leftovers from the chinese restaurant in there too long.
Try cutting off a chunk of the sclerotia itself and transferring it to a new dish. I'll bet it takes off and grows. RR
