5-23-05 Hunt
    #5667790 - 05/24/06 07:26 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

my first fruitful hunt yay .  working on all the spore prints, will have em up soon. I Went on the hunt 2 days after a good amount of rain.

Brown spore print with a cream colored stem.

the cap on this one had a diameter of a CD. The stem was white with a veil. it had reminants on top like an amanita would.

No clue what kind of plant this is, I saw alot of them, they end up growing in a full 180 degree turn and go right back into the soil.

This is what is left of a bolete, looks as if an animal had eaten  part of it.

Sorry for the lack of info, I know the FAQ. just sharing my hunt:). if any ID's are completely obvious let me know, thanks in advance.

This looks like a Hebeloma though I am not sure of the species.

:wtf: DaveTX, almost everything you post is wrong.  Fiddleheads are indeed good eating.  That does look like an amanita though, so don't eat it.

Fiddlehead fern

I guess these people are killing there customers eh?

You stated you were from the PNW ? Any Granola head from Washington or Oregon could tell you all about the Fiddlehead Fern.

Oh ya I can call all you PNW folks Granola heads.. Cuz I'm one myself!
I just moved to Texas and became a stinking Red Neck!

I dont know anything about the fiddlehead but my pic looks wuite a bit different than the link from yessup. My picture was of the early stages, the more mature ones actually grew back into the ground to form an upside down "U" shape, and I belive the so called "amanita" I found was a Amanita rubescens. glad I dont eat random things . thanks for the help so far guys. wish at least one species was active :frown:. oh well, I had an awesome time.
