Album recommendation: Slash's Snakepit - Ain't Life Grand
    #5588892 - 05/04/06 01:58 AM (17 years, 10 months ago)

I have this album for quite some time but I didn't really listen to it somehow. Lately I found myself listening to this album a lot and I love it! It's one of the greatest hardrock albums I know of

The guitarplaying is great, but it goes deeper than that. It's not just Slash showing off his skills, but these musicians have some real magic going on between them  The songs are catchy and beautifull, but also raw. The singer, Rod Jackson, does a great job here. Without him it woulnd't be the same, he has a great voice and makes the tracks work. So if you like hardrock, listen to this one. Simply amazing

any recommendations for similar stuff? I want more
What band is Rod Jackson from? never heard from him before, but I don't know that much rock music though..

There's a lot of good hard rock out there--but most is older. Check out Steppenwolf (very under-rated)>Humble Pie>Rory Gallagher>Sammy Hagar>Foghat>Thin Lizzy>Savoy Brown>Gov't Mule.

Gov't Mule you prolly already know. Clutch is pretty good. Doyle Bramall II is a young blues rocker; Robert Randolph rocks pretty hard as well. Unfortunately, good new hard rock is not easy to find, at least stuff that I would listen to.

I love Slash.

Check out  Fireball Ministry.
Their second album, Their Rock Is Not Our Rock, got my vote for last year's best album of the year. Their first album, Second Great Awakening, is also very good. You'll thank me later!

Clutch has really progressed over their last couple of albums. I rec their last cd, not the newest one. Robot Hive: Exodus

Really good. Kind of a southern feel to it.
