hey guys, Ive been searching the post and havent found an answer yet. Does Mescaline have any bad interactions with an S.S.R.I (lexapro). My friend is planning his first Peruvian trip (30g powder) this weekend(weather permitting). she is on a weak anti depressent Lexapro and is wondering if there will be any adverse effects with mixing the two? Thanks everyone

Effects will probably reduced. At a 30g dose, no effects felt would be no surprise.

A good friend of mine takes the same SSRI. There is no real possiblity of ill effects as a result of the combination. However, as stated a couple of posts ago, the overall effects of the Mescaline would most likely be somewhat reduced. At times, this reduction may be dramatic, exept in the case of mushrooms, which are apparently unaffected. I would personally recommend (keep the "personally" in the front of your mind- I know much less about this particular issue than some...) that the dosage should be increased anywhere from 40-70% if the person is experienced in the psychedelic way... Perhaps 20-30% would be appropriate if she is not...

No. Mixing an SSRI with an MAOI is one of the stupidest things you can do. Do you have any idea how these things work?
In order to have more serotonin hit bind with receptor sites, SSRI's block the reuptake sites, meaning it is left in the synaptic cleft for a longer period of time. MAO enzymes 'clean' the cleft by metabolizing neurotransmitters, and thus balancing things out. If you decide to do this foolish idea, you'll have a buildup that has nowhere to go, and suffer serotonin syndrome.
Ignorance is NOT an excuse for posting such a dangerous suggestion.

o shit yeah i forgot that person said they were on an ssri true ssri's also weaken the effects if you had 30g it would have to be really really strong if they were gona feel it. But for in my experiance with out being on an SSRI taking 30g of torch has good effects even if combined with a weak maoi like passion flower

Even if your friend was dumb enough to risk his or her life for a trip, it doesn't make it okay to suggest someone else does such an EXTREMELY dangerous thing.

dont worry, wont be mixing ssris with maois. I found this it out to my dissapointment after i had already ordered ten grams of p.harmala extract to be combined with shrooms. But thankfully i (being a worry wort)did some reading. Im still waiting for the day that i quit these pesky pills so i can enjoy the extended trips. NEver have noticed a decline in mushroom potency becuase of the pills, but apparently its different with the cacti. Ill probably stick to the plan and just bump up my dosage slightly this first time. thanks guys

"Im still waiting for the day that i quit these pesky pills so i can enjoy the extended trips"
I realize you probably didn't mean this literally...
But just so you know, you should probably wait a month (I'd probably go longer) after quitting an SSRI before taking syrian rue, etc.
