Innoculation: through Holes in the Lid or Not?

I've read that many people have ceased to use the innoculation technique which includes holes in the lid of the substrate cakes. Recently a batch of substrate jars was prepared without holes, and curiousity has risen whether this was wise or not. Any anti-contamination tips while innoculating without the lids on?

My elves never used holes, tape, alcohol wipes or flame sterilization.
A little commom sense will have one working in a clean enviroment and you will find the air is not near as dirty as some would have you beleive.
Just take the lid off and innoculate quickly. Move speedily from jar to jar. Pre-loosen the lids first so you can remove them with one hand while holding the syringe in the other.
It works for me!

Max, that?s a bad advice, very bad advice.
You?re basicaly advocating that one can forget most sterile precautions, since the contamination risk wouldn?t be so big as many say.
Well, i don?t doubt that you have success with your methods.
But to advise a newbie to drop the sterile precautions is simply irresponsible from your side.
If the contamination wouldn?t be a (big) issue we wouldn?t see that many newbies fail at their cultivating attempts.

What are the advantages of non hole innoc? Just less pain in the ass because you're not punching holes in the lid?

There are two completely different goals here. One is growing mushrooms. The other is providing spores.
If a newbie succeds and makes his own print, he can become self-sufficient, trade with fellow shroomites.
There is more money to be made if newbies failed their first try. And the hobby is tantilizing enough to provoke another try. Just my opinion, but, there has to be some reason for such bad advice.
