Easier Way?

If one doesn't wish to make many trips to someone else's pasture, would it be worthwhile to take all the cow patties with cubes growing out of them home? Would this damage the mycellium at all or would it just save hours looking through a feild when all the patties could just be in one location (in the woods) constantly being watered?
Just an idea, comments would be appreciated.. Dinosaur

I'm pretty sure they would die unless maintained expertly. I tried doing this with some mushrooms, I dug a footXfoot block of soil around them, so the myclem. wasn't even close to being touched, and I then placed this in the most similar habitat I could produce--but no luck, they shriveled up and died 2 days later.
I think you should give it a try though, no harm in experimenting.

To a degree it would work, in that you're starting with an appropriate medium that's already thoroughly inoculated with the mycelium you're interested in. On the other hand, to continue fruiting you'll need to provide the correct environment. If you can manage that, it would probably be a useful method.
The Cultivation Forums would probably be the best place to pursue this. They're the ones who can tell you how to make them grow well. This place is more for helping you know what you've found.
Happy mushrooming!

Check for posts by yessup in the cultivation and this forum. He recently had some great success with cow patties in the home.

I think you got a really good idea. If you wer to go locate all the patties with mycelia, then break all the excess patty off putting the mycelia inhabited chunks in a garbage bag, add a gallon of water and berry it with only 5' of dirt covering the top, then with fingers crossed and a good weather report, unearth and tear the bag open a week prior to heavy rain.... . . You might successful and have to shit your paints.

Put it a shaded underground spot with 5 inches of dirt covering the surface of the bag. Just befor it rains use your hands and uncover it, tear the bag open and let it do its thing.
