i found a mushroom growing in the grass in maryland the color of the cap almost looks exactly like these

 Size = 2-3cm Thickness = .5cm Shape = round and a little convex Texture = Feel = slightly rough Visual = Looks rough Colour = overall cinnamon brown color ,top middle is dark brown and lightens in color all the way to the rim stem = mainly white, bruises brown, hollow spore print = jet black gills = dark purplish,blackish;white close around rim; all gills recessed in cap location = grassy lawn;maryland

if your spore color is jet black and in a lawn it could be in the same genus as the one pictured below in the St. Augustine grass and definately not the group pictured above.....you would most likely need a picture for something more definate......very clear(steady hand) close ups, side, top, etc. especially showing the gills from below.....take like 20 pics and delete the blurry ones and post the best......the bottom pic is a sometimes active weak majic mushroom but dont consider eating yours at all without proper ID. this can kill you

Looks like a common Agaricus, in which case the spore print is actually a dark chocolate brown. Several species of Agaricus are edible, several are poisonous, none are active. The color the flesh bruises and the odor are the best indicators for edibility.
Unfortunately, Agaricus are difficult to identify accurately to species. They cause a lot of mushroom poisonings. Fortunately, the poisonings from them are generally just a lot of vomiting and diarrhea.
