I was biking home, and on the side of the sidewalk there were a bunch of mushrooms growing on the mulch put at the base of this tree. I don't remember what kind of tree it was, but I started picking them, and they looked just like some of the ones I saw on the internet. They seemed pretty dry, so a lot of them were not bruising blue, but a couple of them, you could definately see that they were bruising blue. (you might not be able to tell in the picture)
* Growing on mulch of a tree * The gills are brown/black * Stem is kind of small, and some of them have a little light blue stain, mostly whiteish brown * Cap is small, brown/golden brown * Bruises a light blue on a few of them (already bruised) * The mushrooms are pretty small. They seemed dry, possibly from being in the heat for soem time (it was shaded under a tree) Is that a problem?
Sooo, this is my first time getting anykind of mushroom, do these seem like magic mushrooms, or dangerous ones?

You should clarify where in the world you live as well as the color of the spore print after you take one.

I live in Houston, Texas. I started trying to dry them just an hour or two ago, I think they're too dry to get a spore print.

Houston you say?
Toss em they are of no value and may be poisonous! The only Mushrooms you want to pick at this time are Cubes,Copes,Gyms if you know what to look for. All the mushrooms I have just mentioned are the ONLY active mushrooms you will find round here! Look at the photos on this sight and you will see what they look like and that will give you a better ID.. The mushrooms you have in this thread look nothing like any of the mushrooms I have listed.. Good luck and Happy Hunting in "H" ToWn!
This is the Blue your looking for..
