The pictures are not in focus but you get the idea. We massively watered them and will pick them in a day or two or three. Happy hunting

Weird, the caps are really dark. Almost black looking. Did you remember to press the little flower button for macro?

wow! macroscopically weilii looks almost identical to psilocybe caerulescens. i was reading that some of the first specimens of caerulescens were located in the southern united states. its possible that weilii was mistaken for its Mexican cousin?

agreed aborts get dark like that if you leave them in for a day or to they will grow a little more but they are like phish said super potent only takes three or four mid sized aborts to send you to level 5

They are not aborts and are still gorwing. We dumped a good 2 gallons of water over and around them. Hopefully they will become full grown.

Are you sure those are Psilocybe weilii? I have found very similar looking pins that I was positive were weilii, until I picked them. they had the same black caps as yours (this is not an uncommon feature of weilii). No bluing, and the smell was not 'psily.' either they were a freak fruiting of inactive weilii, or some mushroom that can fool even a veteran hunter's eyes (believe me, I know what weilii look like). I was not able to or interested in IDing the little bastards, so no future species reference available (sorry). I anticipate your response...

haha, ya im sure lysergic. Im pretty pro at weilii. Not to mention that i have already consumed all of the pictured weilii. They blued MASSIVELY and tasted like weilii. Oh ya, i tripped pretty hard also.

I see, well never mind then. If I find the mushrooms I am talking about again, I will post pictures of them. At the time, I didn't find them to be of any importance, just another weilii look-alike. The only difference between those and others was that I actually thought they were weilii before I picked them. very convincing when looking from above. smooth, wavy cap and everything. Anyway, the weilii season has about come to a close, and the rain has been spread to the extreme it seems, so I will probably forget all about this by the time the Fall season rolls around and this will be a lost effort. but still, I will try to find some more for ID purposes (and to show you all that I'm not mad...)
The cube season will be upon us within the next month (I hope), so good luck, and happy shrooming!

It is considered extremely difficult. most people who have tried have failed. but yeah, it's been done before.

Exactly. Although I have talked to an Atlanta native who has tried cultivation and had success on Rye. I think this area needs more experimentation before any definite decision is made.

I think Weilii might be a good canidate for cultivating with the "Stem Butt" technique outlined in Stamets new book "Mycelium Running". Weilii is probably easier to cultivate outdoors than it is indoors.
Also one member here (ShroomerJon) just dumped a bunch of weilii spores into water and inoculated a lawn. And supposedly the weilii grew..

Since i made this original post i have picked about thirty more weilii including some this morning. I think the spring season is over now because its incredibly hot outside everyday but who knows.
Weiliidipped - I believe the definition of an abort is a immature weilii that has stopped growing and will not grow any more, never to mature to its full spore releasing potential.
