rust colored spots

a friend of mine noticed in a few of his jars there seems to be very tiny orange/rust colored dots, they are very small and do not seem to grow at all, just wondering if these might be actual rust or a contam of some kind....

I had 12 jars that became contaminated with something rusty-colored. It didn't appear to grow or change at all for at least four or five days. Then within the space of a day, every single jar went bad and the rusty-color stuff covered the entire surface of the substrate and started to turn pink in spots (lipstick mold?).

Keep an eye on the spots.

were there just like 20 little tiny dots, i am pretty sure its contams, i just dont want to have to tell my friend that, he will be disappointed

Are you sure it isn't just light refracting off the vermiculite? Mark a dot or two with a grease pin or small piece of tape and keep an eye on it. If they grow, toss the jars. If they don't grow, probably nothing to worry about.
