Why is it so slow?

Ok I think I have everything correct, my temp is in good range 70-75 degrees,
humidity is high and air exchange is sufficient (I think because I am changing the water in the perlite and misting and fanning twice a day). I have one cake in a soda bottle terrarium. Its been just over a week and I am just starting to see little orange/brown dots on the bulges.
How much longer?
Is it taking so long because it is in a soda bottle terrarium? Is there any suggestions to speed up this unbearably slow cake?
(I say that because I inoculated it in Dec. and only started pinning just over a week ago)
What about the misting and fanning should I increase #of times per day?

you could be puting too much moisture in there and stunting thecakes. you dont realy need to change the h2o (watter) in the bottle just add some hydrogen peroxide (h2o2).
keep them in the dark the only time they should see light is when you look at them and fan.
also it would be a good idea to invest in a fish tank pump they are cheap. that way you dont disturb the environment.(that can stunt growth too)

should i attach an air stone and slip it under the bottle and have it residing in the perlite?

there is 2 ways you could use a pump #1 JUST put the hose in the tank not under the perlite for air extange.
#2 you could put the pump hose in a small cup of hydrogen peroxide in there if you have room. when h2o2 is broken down it produces h2o & o the 2 main things mushrooms need to thrive.
the pump would eliminate the need to open and fan (the fanning and shaking as you open the jug may desturbe the mushrooms. the h2o2 is what i do and it is much easyer

You can put you bubble stone in a jar of water with a little h2o2. The lid must seal tight with two hoses through it. One goes to the bubble stone, the other goes just through the lid and on to the terr carrying the moist air. It works kinda like a water bong. There was a pic of it in a thread named "mini" but I can't seem to find it. Good luck!:peace:
