Opium, Poppies, etc
    #5659682 - 05/22/06 10:57 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

I know a few of you here know something about opium here, so maybe you can help me out.
so if I were going to grow a Papaver Somniferum, what is the differences between strains? like on one site someone cleverly mentioned, they've got the following:
Giganteum strain
Persian Blue
Persian White

The differences aren't really listed on the site and I don't know which one would be best to grow or why. thanks if you can help--

edit: can someone please move this to other drugs disccussion? thanks

Persian, blue and white there aint no real difference. Persians grow in 8 weeks, very fast. Good Yield and small. The Gigm. one is alrt but go with persians.

You can have one to if you get a supporter account.

about the poppies: giganteum is the largest, persian white is probably the most common for opium cultivation amongst hobbyists.

And as mentioned above; this belongs in The Ethnobotanical Garden.

obviously, jut like various types of cactus and marijuana different "strains" will carry various potency however IME atleast with poppy pods it has always been pretty irrelevent. for me all i need to worry about is the size of the pod yeilded. the larger the pod, the better.

Ah, I thought you were rating the varieties he listed, and in turn I was asking where abouts you thought arizonas fell in there. I'd like to know from someone who knows.
