Can i use 2nd\3rd flush mycelium as compost spawn?
    #5659416 - 05/22/06 08:32 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

Yoooo... things are going great!! So I, although im sure not the first to think nor ask, had another whacky idea. Can i take my breadpan substate w/ casing that has had 2 or so flushes on it alreay, and just break it up and mix that in with some pasturized compost to colonize it?

That would be badass!

Thanks.

mycelium has only so much growth potential in it. It could work but most likely your bulk sub would contaminate before it colonized if you used old, used spawn.

What about taking freshly colonized compost, and mixing that in with uncolonized compost?  ?

You most certainly could. Chances of a good success diminish after flushes though.
