Mycelium Colour
    #5659123 - 05/22/06 03:19 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

Hello everyone,
My last two grows have been golden teachers. Being inexperienced as I was I wasn't hugely successful but I learned a lot. The mycelium of the golden teachers was a brilliant white. I have now started another grow of Koh Samui mushies. The mycelium is a lot paler and somewhat more delicate looking, although it seems to germinate a lot more rapidly. I was wondering if the cubensis strain could make any difference to the mycelium colour or whether it was simply that the growing conditions are subtly different and that is what is changing the colour/shade. If this question has already been answered then just point me in the right direction.
Peace,
Darkflame

closer pic please. but it looks good. a close-up would definitely help, and your jars look like you went a bit heavy on the BRF

Unfortunately my camera doesn't seem to like taking closer shots what with it being horribly expensive. Grr. Yeah, the BRF does look kinda heavy but I followed the recipe, unfortunately I didn't consider that my verm is somewhat larger than most. This means there is less surface area for the BRF so its all over the side. It'll be a pain when I birth them I do know that. However, my pink oyster grow is so damn fast you can practically see it growing! Could well be that its just a fast grower but it seems to like this verm:BRF ratio.

I don't know if it's the same deal, but on a few of my jars I injected to much during inoculation. The Mycelium in them looks identical to your pics. It is growing way faster than all the other jars to. Other than the slight off color it appears to be doing great.
