Book binding - Has anyone ever gotten a book fixed?
    #5658317 - 05/21/06 10:04 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

I have this 90 dollar textbook that I can't return, and it's in worse shape than I thought it was when I bought it. The cover is about to come off and the pages are coming out of the glue in the front. I want to get it fixed by a book binder but this seems like a difficult task. That kind of work doesn't seem to get available ANYWHERE. Do you guys know anything about this? Ever had it done?

Take it to a public library and inquire.  Those guys MUST know how to book bind...

I think what you're talking about is extremely rare. Even if you did find someone to do it, I think they usually repair really rare or old books, so it would probably be expensive to the point of being impractical.

Find a library, one on a collage campus with a decent size library will probably be the cheapest. Ever wonder why alot of library books have the same brown book covers? I have a few friends who work at a university library and I know they rebind books. Also the art department here has sponsered a few fairly cheep classes on book binding for the graphic design students, and I am preaty sure they were open to anyone.
