what makes us TRIP

ok so i know that when you ingest psilocybin and psilocin it is absorbed in the blood and liver does this and that and it somehow ends up getting to your brain via blood. i know it acts on receptors (seratonin i think?), but what does it do to actually make us trip. how does a chemical thats not all that bizzare, when mixed with the receptors on a piece of meat (brain) cause intense euphoria, visuals, and a trip. what the hell amkes the walls breathe? how come colors swirl and things form out of nothing. we see it happening, yet its not. if you look in a mirror while tripping the images you see will be breathing too, which is hard to understand for me.
it cant be real when we trip. the walls arent really moving and carpets arent really swirling. things dont leave tracers, yet when we look in a mirror hte light that reflects from the objects in front of it are still moving. maybe im explaining this wrong.
anyway, someone please explain this to me. the same goes for acid and mescaline.

you're asking a question that will require years of research and a well-formulated thesis. you're basically asking what in our mind is the cause of consciousness, and that is a subject thousands of books have been written on, and furthermore, to explain how and why this chemical alters it is equally unknown. However, it is important to note that one of the main reasons we push for acceptance of psychedelics in psychological research is because it could provide valuable information about just how the brain causes consciousness, and then we may begin to dissect how the psychedelic experience derives from it. it's just not a simple answer. these things are regarded as sacred and truly phenomenal for GOOD REASON!

hallucinations are real... in the respect that they are an energy signature occuring in your brain. the fact that you might see a strange pattern on a wall, and your arms reach out to touch it,and you try to draw that pattern later, shows you how soemthign everyone calls a "hallucination" is actually a very real and influencial component of reality remember...the imagination can become "crystalized" into the external world. Thoughts are real.
this is where complexification is headed...towards making the world more controlled by thought than ever before

That was an interesting way of putting it. Very cool
If you have one stimuli and another stimuli, the brain is very good at pattern recognition, so it will find a link between the two(three four and on). What happens inbetween the two is where it gets interesting. SOme would tend to say that that is entirely where visuals come from. I would tend to disagree to some degree, but not entirely.

Scientifically I've read that the visual cortex in our brain is being influenced in such a way that the nerve synapses are firing slower causing what seems like an after effect in our visual sense(Tracers). This additive chemical I've read is basically binding to certain receptors and ether positively polarizing, or depolarizing the nerve causing a mesh of technical, instintual manipulations. Its so fucking incrediable, it boggles the mind, like an instantanious web of static mouvment through-out the brain...
I believe though, that the sub-consious mind, the uncontrolable (figuratively) area of thought, emotions and memories becomes a very influential part in our Pyschedelic Journies. There are many many factors I'm beggining to realize which help certain areas of the trip. Music, People, Physical characteristics, cognitive ability, emotional stability, external stimuli, even certain types of foods just to name a few...These all become influencers, exageraters, intensifiers in this experience, which is why set and attitude becomes a crucial element for a safe time. That's why research, dose and appropriate understanding will always produce better trips, disproving the political stereotype that these drugs are always harmfull.

WIZOLZ points out an interesting theory and Annom has a solid reference there of more theories. I didn't mean to reply that there are no answers to why we see tracers, etc., but the mere fact that you are conscious and that that consciousness can be altered significantly is, I think, the more important phenomenon to be questioned

Oh, and don't forget about GOD.
--------------------
"There is a world beyond ours, a world that is far away, nearby, and invisible. And there is where God lives, where the dead live, the spirits and the saints, a world where everything has already happened and everything is known. That world talks. It has a language of its own. I report what it says. The sacred mushroom takes me by the hand and brings me to the world where everything is known. It is they, the sacred mushrooms, that speak in a way I can understand."

...alternate mode of data interpretation unit functioning, triggered by a chemical message indicating, "Dilute ego, re-connect to universal network at XXX bits of information per second..."
And if you take more tryptamines, it just dilutes the ego even more til the point of its temporary dispersal, and this is when a "full" connection to the "Universal Network" occurs.
