WBS jars using 6T's tek

Hey all. I'm wondering if anyone who uses 6T's WBS tek still has some grains sticking to the bottom of the jars after throughly shaking the jars while still hot. Is this normal, or should there be zero kernels sticking after shaking? Would this be a sign that there wasn't sufficient drainage?

If there is grain sticking due to abundtant moisture in the jars then it could be a problem, you may end up with bacterial infestation, if its because the grain is COOKED to the jar, then its not really too big of a problem and hsould colonise nicley, if there is sitting water in the jar, your hooped.

next time add some gypsum to your water during the soak time.
your wbs shouldn't stick to anything after that. mine don't stick at the bottom at all.
next time also put a bit of dry vermiculite in the bottom of the jars. It will soak up any extra water during pc'ing. And after when it is shaken it will incorporate into the wbs evenly. This helps with colonization in my jars.

i've never used gypsum, but verm at the bottom (doesn't take much) makes a huge difference. +1.

The verm trick sounds neat. I wonder why that works though. Why wouldn't the verm stick to the bottom just like the grains did, if the verm absorbs the water? Is it because it doesn't absorb its full holding capacity?

Maybe it's because I can only get fine grade verm, but when I use it in my grain jars, it just makes a mess and smears along the inside of the jars when I shake them. This makes it hard to see the jar colonizing.

verm works great. you should certainly use a meduim grade vermiculite.
when you shake the jars after pc'ing, the verm spreads perfectly through the grain, nothing sticks to the bottom. now you can use a touch more LC to speed things up. safety and speed all just from a little verm. why not to use it??
EDIT: I know why now...

I'm taking that back anyway.
It's too easy for folks to throw the water content off with verm. I'm sticking to no verm in grain from here on out.
I have to order the medium verm in huge bags. Shipping sucks bad.

I like the Verm Idea. The stuff I've picked up locally tends to be a mix of everything. A few minutes of light shaking and all the nice pieces of whole verm come to the top of the bag. Thats the part I used in my BRF cakes and would probably be just fine in with the WBS.
