Recently my Pl. eryngii blocks have been producing flushes of 500 gr mushrooms with a few tiny brothers.
This one weighed 560 gr:

This one weighed 650 gr:

I harvested them a little bit too late but they still tasted good. Strangely enough the blocks started to produce these single fruit when temperatures had risen here. During the day temperatures reach 26 Celcius these days. Normally too high for Pl. eryngii to fruit.

How was the stem? Tuff like rubber? I like the flavour of the kings. Pretty good producer as well.

I think its the high nitrogen content that triggered these fruits together with rising temperature during the last three days of fruiting.
The substrate was exactly the same as for my shiitake: see http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/5023985#Post5023985 (One third of the substrate weight is grain spawn)
Corporal No the stems were not tough. They have a chewy texture kinda like calamari and very tasty IMO.
FSP No they are not from FSP but I think I did sent cultures of this strain to FSP.
I fried them with some soy sauce and others in some butter that I put on a steak.
