Controversy

What never ceases to amuse me is those folks who claim to hate controversy and who cannot wait to add their own righteous two-bits to a hot topic meanwhile chanting the "Why can't we all just get along?" mantra.
The most active topics are almost always the most controversial and a good chunk of the posters are of the aforementioned category.

I love controversy...it is what makes life interesting and fun.

Beautiful hummingbird.
Thanks.
This picture of the male Costa's hummingbird shows his beautiful purple head and flared throat feathers with the iridescence from the sun shown. The bird's entire head and throat feathers are iridescent so depending on which way the sun is hitting what it can either be this beautiful bright purple in the sun or a much darker purple out of the sun.
I have been very fortunate to have seen one of the very rare vagrant males way north of his normal southwestern US range the past two years. He comes by to drink some of my sugar water while migrating. The odds are good it is the same bird as they are known to come back to the same feeder year after year.
This year on both occasions I was standing four feet away from the feeder as the bird hovered in front of me for about 10 seconds and fed a couple of times before departing. The first was in late afternoon sun and the second was in mid-morning sun.
Both experiences this year were about as spiritual as it gets for me. The way the light from the sun reflects off this spectacular rare jewel as he buzzes and floats four feet away is hard to put into words.
