It doesn't easily fit into any of the conventional drug categories.

No need for the attitude, drugs are classified by what they do to the body. Weed is physically a depressant and is catagorized in the same group as alcohol, heroin and other opiates. I mean hell, alcohol can give you minor hallucinations but it is a not a hallucinogen. Weed can rarely contain THCV but as a whole is indeed a depressant.

I have open eyed visuals from weed probobly every 1 out of 5 times I smoke. Depends how often I smoke though. That is with daily smoking. If I have a low tolerence, then most likely patterns will shift around and stuff. Most of the times my visuals are more of walls breathing and patterns moving, but sometimes I have actual hallucinations, like shadows moving on the wall and stuff that aren't there.

Cannabis is both classified as a depressant and a psychedelic. Hallucinogens consist of psychedelics, dissociatives, and deleriants. Ever smoke some good sativa? Deffinatly not deppresant (for me atleast).

Snip snap sap, didnt know it was both..and stimulant too hmm? A stimulating depressant? lol. But yeah, i've seen lots of shapes and patterns when I smoke, pretty much every time i smoke. One time I saw a lizard running in place on a ceiling, so yeah, i wont doubt that it can make you see hallucinations

The term hallucinogen doesn't only reefer....i mean, refer to visual hallucinations, it also implies multi-sensual hallucinations, such as aural. Pot definitely gives me aural hallucinations, which is why music sounds so damn good after a bowl or five.

i'm gonna back up the fact that THC is an hallucinogen!
i've seen faces morph which was real trippy (i wasn't ready for that lol ) and pattern recognition is MUCH higher while stoned... you can visually interact with patterns if you watch something for long enough (like someone mentioned layers over the forground... espacially with trees and complex things... i find i can roam the 3D space with my vision (without moving)
my guess is you've never smoked any sensimilla (i was BLOWEN away the first time i smoked sensi... i had no idea weed could be like THAT kinda sucks because good weed is very hard to find around here and i can't go back to the seedy shag i used to smoke... at least we have hash)

I've tripped with indica the first time I tried it. Strong CEVs, mild time distortion, and morphing people's faces and outfits. Have tried sativa and hash hundreds of times with not even near results.
Well, most hash here is from morocco and it's pretty crappy (literally).

Ive had visuals on it several times. One of the first times I got high with some friends, I sat around watching him play mortal kombat on xbox for 30 minutes. After that we figured out that the controller wasnt connected to the game. The buttons he was pressing just made sence with the movements. That was funny as hell afterwards. Another time more recent, I remember laying out on the couch in the garage and seeing what I thought were zombies at the window. Of course I was smoking some headies along with eatting a few firecrackers before but none the less, I was still seeing them. I swear.

I few times years back when i ate hash cookies or smoked 8 or 9 cones in a row I would say that things were pretty strange - room was sorta chaning shape and stuff. But i look at it more this way - any substance that expands your perceptions, ideas, or the way you think about things is in some way a hallucinogen In my opinion. I used to love to get stoned in the day and watch jets fly over to the airport in the sun - they looked like toys. And the music i wrote and the lyrics I came up with - the ideas for the book im writing - all came from the change in perception that weed gave me. I dont smoke it much now unfortunately because i have a health condition that it messes with by lowering my blood pressure and I sure as hell miss it. But every now and then i can still smoke it without ill effects.

Personally, i never get OEVs from smoking. But every time i smoke alot, CEVs are always apparent. They're not really hullucinations, however. They're usually just intense and flowing patterns in grey and primary colors.

My cat usualy just smokes till hes so stoned that he has to lay down or he will faint. he then closes his eyes and finds that he can picture things in his head, anything he wants, vividly, even trippy if prefered. images race by in his head, or so hes told me. from my cats stories, it sounds like weed can be quite psychedelic.
