ok i have a brand new all american 921. I applied p. jelly to the metal metal seal. I fired it up and its leaking threw the metal metal seal...its sputtering water out of 3 sides on my second run with it maybe the p. jelly burned off but still.
Is it sopposed to do this? the lid wobbles when i put it on, and the 3 little clips, its like one or two will touch metal then the other will be all the way down....
How far am i sopposed to screw them clamps down? i do it till its nice and snug. but something isn't right here...my arrows are lined up.
need help asap thx

First off did you line up the arrows? You need to make sure the lid is evenly spaced all the way around then tighten the lugs opposite each other evenly all the way around, it's all in the instructions. GL

Run your finger tips under the lip all the way baround so it's even then tighten the lugs opposite beach other at the same time (very important!) then tighten the opposite lugs (90 degrees) and so forth. Just sug them down 1/2 turn at a time.

It's gonna be a real bitch to get the lid off now. There is a break-in period with the metal to metal seal where it will leak a bit the first five or six times you use it. After that, it seals up perfectly. Do as hyphae said to get the lid even, then barely snug the wing nuts. Once the lid is even and the nuts are just barely against the lid, give each one no more than 1/4 turn, tightening the two opposite nuts simultaneously. RR

actually im a pro at removing my lid already(when stuck), i had a needle screwdriver thing, it slides in real nice and it just goes real nice(according to directions of course).
but yeah im going to take careful attention to how i put it on so i break it in square and not crooked. i was just frustrated with how it doesn't want to sit on there right(wobbles everywhere and once a side goes down i have to undo all the dam things).
but i think i am starting to get it now...thx for the help

Make sure there are no burrs or bumps on the
seal surfaces/ Just slide your finger along all
the surfaces. If you feel a bump take a file and smooth
it flat . Make sure the vertical are checked too, not
just the flat ones.
Then if that don't work, rub a magic marker and color
one side of the seal surface do the lid or the bucket not both.
Clamp it up for a few minuets and take apart. The ink thats
show up on the Opposite side you colored are the interference
spots, If you got a steady hand you can use a fine file and
hold it flat on the surface and kiss it down.
Just do it lightly because you can screw it up worser.
