Between the conscious and the unconscious, the mind has
put up a swing:
all creatures, even the supernovas, sway between these
two trees,
and it never winds down.
Angels, animals, humans, insects by the millions, also the
wheeling sun and moon;
ages go by, and it goes on.
Everything is swinging: heaven, earth, water, fire,
and the secret one slowly growing a body.
I saw that for fifteen seconds, and it made me a servant
for life.

Ravishing beasts as they prance through the night

To cradle the wonder of all that we see

Praise tp emptiness that blanks out existence. Existence:
This place made from our love for that emptiness!
Yet somehow comes emptiness,
this existence goes.
Praise to that happeneing, over and over!
For years I pulled my own existence out of emptiness.
Then one swoop, one swing of the arms,
that work is over.
Free of who I was, free of presence, free of
dangerous fear, hope,
free of mountainous wanting.
The here-and-now mountain is a tiny piece
of straw
blown off into emptiness.
These words I'm saying so much begin to lose meaning:
Existence, emptiness, mountain, straw:
Words and what they try to say swept
out the window, down the slant of the roof.
