this is my first time trying to grow. I have a few cake which have been growing for a few weeks. Everything started fine and the mycelium grew nice and white. Now though there are a few spots of a bluish color forming only where there is already mycelium growing. it does not grow in any circular way but rather quite randomly in many shapes. Im not sure if this is contamination because ive read that sometimes there is a slight bluing of mycelium. ive also read that it is unlikely for contamination to occur where there is already mycelium. But to confuse me more ive also read that some contamination has a bluish color. What is going on and what should i do?
Press one finger on a cake and you'll see what is bruising. Compare it to your strange color. Then try to see if this color spreads. That would be a bad sign.
If your humidity is too low, your cakes may bruise and that could be an explanation. If not, then it is contamination.
