Jar Lid Setup

After MUCH thought and consideration, I've decided on this method for my next round of jars. Input is appreciated.
These are 1 pt Bell jars with WBS, btw.
Dril 3/8" hole in center of lid. Cover jar ring with tyvek and fold back over. Place drilled lid into ring, essentially clamping down the tyvek. Load jars up, put lid/ring combo on.
PC like usual, let cool. Inject 1 ml/cc of spore solution through the tyvek and into the hole. Micropore the injection point on the tyvek.
That's it. Anyone see any problems with this? It seems clean, simple and most importantly, sterile.

if you put the tyvek on top of the lid you'll want to mark on the tyvek where the hole is so you don't go poking around looking for it.

Yeah, I even bought the RTV but I'm thinking "what's the benefit to offset the complexity?"

I'll be putting all the holes dead center. Just gently running my finger over the jar will indent the hole enough to make it its position plain.

correct.
if you pull the tyvek tight it will float over the hole and sometimes it is hard to feel it, you'll have to push down hard, but yeah, you'll be fine.
dead center is the way to go.
good luck. I just inoculated tons of grains today, it's real easy.

For my WBS all I do is put the tyvek down first and secure with the jar ring, no lid involved whatsoever.

I've been repeatedly cautioned that such a method will dry the jars out too quickly. You haven't had that problem?

Once in awhile the top 1/4 inch will dry out and won't colonize. I just pour it off and don't use it. I'm using 1/2 pints so the colonize very quickly. I wonder if I'll have a problem when I switch to bigger jars?
