Question regarding extracting spores

Hey, I found some shriveled up, dried coprinus mushrooms in my back yard, so I picked one and put it in a small cup of water because I wanted to see if it would re-hydrate. However, I noticed when I poked it gently, tons of spores spilled into the water... After about 20 pokes, I filled the cup (about 1/2 a cup of water) with a dark purple solution, all with one dried mushroom...
I then just poured it on some deciduous logs and soil, don't think anything will happen, but would it work?

Possibly.. since the gills of coprinus turn to an inky substance, the solution is probably a mixture of the "melted" gills and spores.
The spores of coprinus are pretty much already all over the place, so they will grow if the habitat and conditions are right.
I probably wouldn't bother spreading any of them - unless it was C. comatus of course!

I would spread them. I found some C. comatus today, ignored them.

thanks for info, had a feeling it was mainly the gills dying the water that color.

Thats one of the smartest things iv ever herd on this board. I think you have some awesome talent and should keep an eye on your log's/soil spore mix not letting it dry out. Then take and put it near the same area you found them and see what happens. I bet if you keep the mix moist and time it to ware you make a the bed about a week before it rains that you will bloom a large patch and shit yourself!
